In the early days of MakerBot when my husband Keith Ozar was Head of Marketing, I participated in a lot of the awesome projects that built the brand. Our Sci-Fi Holiday window at The New Museum was a huge hit. The MakerBot Raceway at World Maker Faire was another highlight.

I’ve been working on my 1915 rowhouse in Brooklyn for over 10 years. The condition of the masonry porch has been declining rapidly in the last couple years and is beyond my DIY capabilities. One can’t just buy new balusters of the original size and shape and the cost to have a professional precast company reproduce it was a lot. So in anticipation of the construction crew starting work, I set to work reproducing the balusters with a 3D printed positive model, mold making and casting in concrete. Who knew I needed so many specialty tools to accomplish the goal? We made a poor man’s vibrating table built on a tire to get the bubbles out!
Repurposed trophies given new life with 3D printed parts to celebrate the 20th Annual NYC Idiotarod Shopping Cart Race.
